Fair Trade Ghunkur
Ghunkur or ankle bells are traditional to Bangladesh, India and Pakistan culture. The ghunkur is used for rhythmic emphasis by male and female dancers in classic, religious and folk tradition. The performer ties the ghunkur around either or both of his ankles. The ringing of the bells resounds in the rhythm of the performers dance, highlighting the movement with sound when he stomps his feet. Their sweet sound and "hands free " properties make these a very practical percussion item.

Ten brass bells are attached to the woven strap to tie around the ankle.


As each musical instrument is handmade, each musical instrument is unique.
