The Kartal are the flatter style of cymbal and have a diameter of approximately 5.5 cms. The player holds the kartal by winding the cord around his fingers. The two cymbals of the kartal are joined by a cord. A small rim around the base of the kartal gives the player the ability to vary the sounds. For playing, touch the cymbals directly and then clash the rims of the cymbals against each other- at different angles and with different force. While some striking techniques allow the cymbals to ring freely , others produce a dampened sound. When the rim of one cymbal is covered by the rim of the other one, both cymbals will immediately stop ringing.
As the kartals are handmade, each is unique.
Story of fair trade producer group accompanies each pair of kartals.
